Big Field Wind Farm

Community Power Cornwall is working with Good Energy to enable a majority community stake in the Big Field Wind Farm in north Cornwall.

We intend to purchase a stake of up to 74.9% in the project using a mix of funding that will allow local investors including residents, community groups and other organisations.

If successful, this would make the Big Field England’s largest community-owned wind farm, and the first in the UK to operate without government subsidy – but we need your help to make it happen.

The project proposes 11 wind turbines on a farmland site south of Bude, generating enough power for up to 22,000 homes.

A decision on whether the Big Field Wind Farm can go ahead now rests with the UK Government – and that’s where we need your help to write a letter of support.

The Big Field Wind Farm could power nearly a third of all the new homes planned for Cornwall by 2030 and prove that wind energy can work without subsidy.

You can help us make it happen by taking a few minutes to write to Communities Secretary Sajid Javid, who will make the final decision.

We’ve teamed up with Friends of the Earth to prepare an outline letter that you can edit to make your own. Just click on this link and follow the instructions on screen.

Thank you for your support.
